CSC Timesheets App — Support

CSC Timesheets is the timesheet app for Carlson Scale technicians. It is for Carlson Scale employees only, and the company installs it on company phones. It is not on the public App Store.

When you get in touch, tell us which iPhone you have and what the screen says. A screenshot helps.

Getting started

  1. Open CSC Timesheets. If it isn't on your phone, ask the office.
  2. The first time, the app explains shop arrival times, then iOS asks whether it can use your location. Either answer is fine: your timesheet works without it.
  3. If you allow location, the app offers Always next, so times are noted while the app is closed. Then it asks about notifications, so it can tell you if you need to sign in again.
  4. Sign in (below). Your week opens.

Signing in

  1. Type your Carlson Scale work email.
  2. Check your email for a one-time code and type it in. The sign-in page may mention Cloudflare: that's the company's sign-in service.
  3. You stay signed in for about a month. When that runs out, the app asks you to sign in again.

If you see "Ask the office to add you", your sign-in worked but you're not set up for timesheets yet. Call or email us.

Shop arrival times

When this is on, the app notes when you arrive at and leave the shop, and those times fill in on your timesheet. Those rows say "Time from your phone".

  • Your iPhone watches one circle, about 150 m (500 ft) around the shop. Nothing else.
  • Only three things are sent: arrived or left, the time, and how accurate the phone's location was. Never your coordinates.
  • It's optional. Saying no changes nothing about your timesheet.
  • It never moves your Clock In or Clock Out. You still check and confirm every day.
  • Once you've turned it on, the Shop times line at the top of the screen shows whether it's on, today's arrival and departure, and anything waiting to send. Tap it for details.

To turn it on: in the app, tap the gear. If you haven't been asked yet, tap Turn on shop arrival times. Otherwise tap Open iOS Settings, then Location, choose Always and leave Precise Location on.

To turn it off: open the iPhone Settings app, tap Apps > CSC Timesheets > Location (on iOS 17: CSC Timesheets > Location), and choose Never. Times already waiting on the phone are still sent the next time the app is online. To throw those away too, delete the app.

Working offline

  • Shop times are saved on your phone when there's no signal, and sent automatically once you're back online, at the latest the next time you open the app with a connection. In the app's Settings they show as Waiting until then. They must reach the server within 14 days, or they show as Too old.
  • Your timesheet needs a connection. Offline, the app shows "You're offline" and loads your week again when the signal comes back.

Sharing a phone

Before you hand the phone to someone else, sign out: tap the gear, then Sign out, then Sign out again to confirm. That ends your sign-in and removes it, and the timesheet site's data, from the phone.

  • Your shop times only ever go out under your own sign-in, never someone else's.
  • Times you haven't sent yet stay on the phone, and are sent if you sign in on it again within 2 weeks.
  • If someone else signs in without you signing out first, your waiting times still stay yours. Settings shows "N shop times are waiting for (your email) to sign in again."

Fixing common problems

What you see What to do
"Sign in again so your shop times can be sent" Tap it and sign in. Your times are kept on the phone until then.
"Shop times can't be sent yet" Tap it to see why, and tell us. Your times stay on the phone.
"You're offline" Get signal or Wi-Fi. Nothing is lost.
"Can't reach CSC right now" Your phone is online but the timesheet server isn't answering. Tap Try again in a minute. If it lasts, tell us.
